Refund Policy
There are no refunds or exchanges on any textbook you purchase(d) prior to August 9, 2010.
FALL 2010 Textbook Refund Policy:
Refund Eligible Period:
Fall textbooks are available for purchase or rent beginning August 9 in the Bookstore. However, you may order your books from this website starting on August 2.
THE LAST DAY FOR REFUNDS FOR FALL TEXTBOOKS IS AUGUST 25, 2010 for books purchased in the bookstore from August 9 to August 25. On-line purchases made on or after August 2 are also eligible for refund until August 25.
EXCEPTIONS: You may return or exchange your Fall Semester textbook purchased or rented on or after August 9 by September 3 only if you drop the class for the textbook you are returning. Proof of drop (Print out of your Fall Class Schedule--from Admissions & Records or Class-Web showing the class has been dropped), Chabot ID and Valid Receipt required. A 10% re-stocking fee will apply to each book returned under this exception. New textbooks that are deemed by the bookstore to not be in new condition will be subject to a used book price. The bookstore reserves the right to determine the condition of the textbook.
AFTER September 3: All textbook sales are final (no exchanges or refunds).
Fall Semester RENTAL BOOKS ARE DUE BACK TO THE STORE BY DECEMBER 21, 2010.
FOR ON-LINE ORDERS ONLY:
Once your on-line order has been pulled and your credit card has been charged, a 10%/per book Re-Stocking fee will apply to each textbook under the following condition(s):

Textbooks or merchandise returned for refund or exchange in person or are shipped back to the bookstore for refund or exchange.

Refused delivery of package.

Delivery failure for any reason, including but not limited to incorrect address entered by customer, UPS or other carrier cannot locate address or customer moved.

Textbook orders not picked up by August 16, 2010 will be returned to inventory.

All other refund policies also apply to on-line orders, including last day for refunds.
Original, valid and complete Chabot College Bookstore cash register receipt and valid photo identification are required for all refunds or exchanges. See General Textbook Refund Policy below for other requirements.
General Textbook Refund Policy:
1. To qualify for a refund or exchange, the purchase must have been made during our Refund Eligible Period.
2. New textbooks and textbook sets that are shrinkwrapped when sold must be in the original shrinkwrap with all original labels intact and attached.

3. New textbooks must be clean, not used and undamaged. There should be no writing, underlining, bent pages, bent covers, soiled covers or pages, water damage or any other damage. The bookstore reserves the right to determine the refundability of returned textbooks. We may, at our discretion offer a used textbook price as refund price or not offer a refund or exchange.
4. Used textbooks must be in saleable condition and the bookstore reserves the right to determine the condition of the returned textbook. If the textbook is not in saleable condition, we will not be able to offer a refund.
5. Used textbooks sold as a shrinkwrapped set must include all packaged materials and be in saleable condition. The bookstore reserves the right to determine the condition and completeness of the returned textbook set. If the textbook set is not in saleable condition, we will not be able to offer a refund.
General Merchandise Return Policy:
1. General merchandise may be returned within two working days of the date of the purchase. Merchandise returned for refund or exchange must be in original packaging with all labels intact and attached, undamaged and in saleable condition. The bookstore reserves the right to determine the condition of the merchandise. Example: Merchandise purchased on Monday must be returned for refund or exchange by Wednesday of the same week.
2. Items not eligible for refund or exchange include supply kits (art, engineering, medical, drafting or other kits), medical supplies, study guides or aids, reference books or aids, socks, goggles, eye or ear wear of any kind, heart monitor straps, towels, reading glasses, catalogs, clay computer disks, calculators, scantrons, inflated balloons (including balloon bouquets), gift cards, gift certificates, sale items, special orders, food, drinks sundry items or any item marked as non-returnable.
Applies to all returns or exchanges:
1. Original, valid and complete Chabot College Bookstore receipts must be presented with requests for a refund or exchange of merchandise or textbooks.
2. All returns or exchanges must be accompanied by a valid California Drivers License, California Identification or Chabot Student Identification for the person making the request for refund or exchange.
3. Credit Card refunds must be made on the same credit card the original purchase was made.
4. Original purchases made by check will require a Due Bill to be issued for returns made during a refund eligible period. The Due Bill can be redeemed for cash ten (10) business days from the date of the original purchase. If you obtain a bank statement that clearly shows the check used to pay for the returned textbook, trade book or merchandise has cleared your bank, and you bring the bank statement and your Due Bill to the bookstore, you may redeem your due bill prior to the tenth (10th) business day.
